On this page of Saval B.V. we would like to inform you about our actions and developments in the field of the CO₂ policy within our company. We will update this regularly so that you are up to date of the current state of affairs.

This update is from [10-02-2023]

Status 2023

The overall goal of the energy management system is to continuously improve energy efficiency and reduce the organization's CO2 emissions.

Based on the CO2 emissions in the reference year 2018, it was investigated which measures and objective(s) can be formulated to reduce CO2 emissions from that reference year onwards. It is assessed annually whether the chosen reference year is still suitable for the stated objective and/or whether adjustment is necessary.

In 2022, total emissions amounted to 811 tons of CO2. In concrete terms, the objective was to emit 35% less CO2 in scope 1 and 2 by 2023. However, this target was already achieved in 2021.

That is why a newly formulated objective was drawn up during the last certification: By 2023, the company will emit 45% less CO2 in scope 1 and 2. These scopes consist of the direct greenhouse gas emissions due to fuel consumption (electricity, gas consumption, fuel consumption of the vehicle fleet). .

The road to certification

We take our social responsibility seriously and emphasise this by getting certified for the CO2 Performance Ladder. In order to maintain the level 3 certificate, broad insight is necessary to take advantage of opportunities for the reduction of raw materials and energy required to realize our products and services. With the insights gained, it is possible to think about what improvements are possible to reduce the impact of Saval on the environment (also known as the Carbon Footprint of a company).

The level at which we deal with CO2 reduction meets the requirements set by the SKAO (Foundation for Climate Friendly Procurement and Entrepreneurship) / CO2 Performance Ladder at level 3. We will communicate the updates of our energy policy, our CO2 footprint and reduction targets internally and externally every six months.

A | INSIGHT

Saval has converted its own energy consumption into CO2 emissions in order to gain more insight into its CO2 emissions per energy flow. This insight into CO2 emissions makes it possible to set effective objectives. The CO2 footprint was calculated for the first time in the year 2018. The footprint is recalculated every six months and communicated internally and externally.

B | REDUCTION

Saval has set reduction targets to effectively reduce CO2 emissions. Reduction measures have been drawn up to achieve this objective. These are assessed every six months for their effectiveness.

C | COMMUNICATION

Saval communicates publicly every six months about its energy reduction policy with regard to insight, reduction and participation in an initiative.

D | PARTICIPATION

Saval B.V. actively participates in initiatives to reduce CO2 in the sector or beyond. This is currently the initiative NL CO2 neutral.
